X940e, X945e Card for IPDS and SCS/TNe Application Solutions

X940e, X945e Card for IPDS and SCS/TNe

This Card supports AFP/IPDS color printing or SCS mono printing from an IBM iSeries, AS/400, IBM zSeries or System/390 computer over TCP/IP to LAN printers using IBM printer emulation.

For Font Capture with IPDS:

PSF/MVS V2.2.0 with APAR OW08340, PSF/MVS V3.1, PSF/VSE V 2.2.1 with APAR DY43969 or OS/400 4R2 with PSF/400 V4R2 or later, or iSeries with V5R3 or later.

For Network Attachment (AFP/IPDS):

Using Standard Ethernet (100BaseTX/10BaseT) Network printer port using PSF/MVS V2.2 or later, PSF/MVS V3.1 or later, PSF/VSE Version 2.2 with APAR/PTF: DY45247/UD51162, PSF/VM Version 2.1 with APAR PQ39895 (PTF UQ45995), IBM iSeries with V5R2, V5R3 or later or AS/400 OS/400 V3R1, V3R2, V3R6, V3R7, V4R1 to V4R5, V5R1, V5R2, V5R3 or later through PSF (See Note), PSF for OS/2 (PSF/2) 2.0 or PSF for AIX (PSF/6000) 2.1 or later. Note: With AS/400 OS/400 V3R1 or OS/400 V3R6, to print IPDS over TCP/IP through PSF/400, PTF SF29249 - WRKAFP2 is required.

For Network Attachment (SCS LU1):

Using Standard Ethernet (100BaseTX/10BaseT) Network printer port with IBM iSeries or AS/400 for TN5250E SCS LU1 printing as an IBM 3812-01 printer: IBM iSeries or AS/400 OS/400 V3R7 or later with all PTFs applied (Note: With up to four (4) TN5250E sessions from multiple hosts, SCS Menu options settings for all are the same); with IBM Mainframe for TN3270E SCS (LU1) printing as an IBM 3287 printer: IBM Communications Server for OS/390 Version 2 Release 5 or later on ESA systems (Note: all appropriate APARs must be applied), TCP/IP for MVS Version 3 Release 2 or later, TCP/IP for VM/ESA Version 2 Release 4 or later (function level 310 or later), TCP/IP for VSE/ESA V1 R3 or later using General Print Server Feature, Using Cisco 7500 Series Routers or using a Gateway and TCP/IP.

For Network Attachment (SCS LU1) using a Gateway or TCP/IP:

Using Standard Ethernet (100BaseTX/10BaseT) Network printer port: If TN3270E or TN5250E capable SNA gateway software supports the TN3270E or TN5250E protocol according to RFC 2355, then a TN3270E or TN5250E session can be used to print SCS jobs directly from a mainframe, iSeries or AS/400.

Q. Is it possible to print Chinese, Japanese or Korean using IPDS?

A. Yes, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Korean and Japanese double byte character set (DBCS) raster bitmaps or outline fonts can be downloaded and printed from the host using IPDS. These fonts may be downloaded and captured on an optional disk or flash memory. At least 128MB of SDRAM is required to print these languages.

Q. Does IPDS support color printing?

A. The C920 is a color printer and can receive and process IPDS full color commands and print the images in color, black or in shades of gray. This is controlled by the Color Processing menu item in the IPDS menu.

Q. Does IPDS support Function Set 45 (FS 45)?

A. Function Set 45 defines a set of commands to allow the printing of full color documents. The Lexmark C920 IPDS solution prints in full color.

Q. Does IPDS support N-up or N-up Explicit Page Placement (N-up EPP) commands?

A. Yes, This printer supports N-up and N-up EPP of 1 to 4 partitions per side. When printing in duplex using N-up of 4 on each side, 8 partitions can be printed on one sheet. Formatting of the text to fit in each partition is performed by the host application.

Q. Does IPDS support Object Containers?

A. Support for Object Containers is not included in the IPDS code. When PostScript, JPEG, and other files carried in IPDS Object Containers are received, a Negative Acknowledgement (NACK) will be returned to the host.

Q. What 2D bar codes are supported by IPDS?

A. Datamatrix, Maxicode, PDF417 and QR 2D bar codes are supported.

Q. What other bar codes are supported using the IPDS bar code tower?

A. In addition to the 2D bar codes, these bar codes can also be generated using IPDS and are automatically scaled and printed: 3 of 9 code, Code 93, MSI, UPC/CGPC Version A, UPC/CGPC Version E, UPC Two-character Supplemental, UPC Five-character Supplemental, EAN-8, EAN-13, 2 of 5 Industrial, 2 of 5 Matrix, 2 of 5 Interleaved, o 2 of 7 Codabar, Code 128, EAN Two-Digit, EAN Five-Digit, POSTNET - US Postal bar code (including PLANET code), Japan Post, British Royal Mail, Australian Post and Dutch KIX.
